RNC Takes the Reins

RNC runs its own ads

In a highly unusual move, the Republican National Committee has begun running its own ads in several battleground states. The move is a Preempt , as television advertising is usually the task of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Both sides were careful to Recast the move as on-strategy. "We've anticipated a challenging cycle and have been working closely with the NRSC for the past year to strategically allocate our resources," said Tracey Schmitt, spokeswoman for the RNC.

No matter how they spin it, the RNC seems to be saying, "you're not doing enough, and this is important, so we're stepping in."
